Muskoka Meats hosting The Homegrown Ontario Road Show
June 5, 2009 – Gravenhurst, ON
SAVOUR Muskoka is very excited to announce that one of its newest members Muskoka Meats will be hosting The Homegrown Ontario Road Show. On Friday June 5th, 2009 Muskoka Meats along with several SAVOUR Muskoka Members will host the organization on its annual road show program.
Homegrown Ontario is an alliance of Ontario Pork, the Ontario Veal Association, the Ontario Sheep Marketing Agency, Turkey Farmers of Ontario and the Ontario Independent Meat Processors. Research from Canada’s leading survey-based marketing research firm, Ipsos Reid, clearly indicates that Ontario consumers are eager to support Ontario farmers and the local economy by choosing meat and poultry products produced in Ontario.
SAVOUR Muskoka is very excited about the initiatives its members, in this case Dave Purdon of Muskoka Meats, are taking to promote not only the SAVOUR Muskoka organization but the agricultural community in Muskoka / Parry Sound as a whole. The event will not only feature Muskoka Meats but also affiliated SAVOUR members such as Yummies in a Jar and Grenville Farms. General Manager James Murphy notes “this type of showcasing really highlights the passion with our organization and its member’s eagerness to be seen as a culinary destination within Ontario”. Dave Purdon of Muskoka Meats acknowledges, " I opened this business to get as close to the food chain as I could. By eating what is produced in your own neighbourhood, not only are you supporting the local economy, but you are helping to sustain the environment, and most importantly the products are healthier, tastier, and far more exciting!”
SAVOUR Muskoka, a FedNor initiative with a grant from the Trillium Foundation, and its members are united in their efforts to celebrate and share in Muskoka’s agricultural and culinary heritage as these activities support healthy environments and economic growth.
